	2002 Champagne Stakes – Toccet Toccet stalked the leaders and rallied in the stretch for an upset victory in the $500000 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park yesterday. Finding room along the rail, Toccet shot past Icecoldbeeratreds, the 3-1 second favorite, in the final sixteenth of a mile to win by a length and a half in the Grade I race for 2-year-olds. Erinsouthernman was another three lengths back in third. The winning time was 1:44.45. Dismissed at odds of 9-1 by the Belmont crowd of 9551, Toccet, trained by John Scanlan and owned by Daniel Borislow, won his third straight race and positioned himself for a shot in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Arlington Park on Oct. 26. He paid $20.20 for a $2 bet to win. Icecoldbeeratreds, trained by Bob Baffert, made a strong showing but tired in the stretch of the mile-and-a-sixteenth race. Baffert, who was at Santa Anita watching his other juveniles Kafwain and Bull Market finish one-two in the $200000 Norfolk Stakes, said he was uncertain whether Icecoldbeeratreds would move on to the Juvenile.
